Year 7 is the main entry point. Occasional places sometimes come up in Years 8, 9 and 10; for September 2027, register interest by Monday 4 January 2027.
Entry points and who can apply
Godolphin and Latymer is a girls' day school in Hammersmith. It describes itself as academically selective, and says it is looking for intellectual potential and for girls who will thrive across a wide range of lessons and activities. Girls normally join at one of two points: 11+ or 16+. This guide covers 11+.
- 11+ (Year 7). For girls born between 1 September 2015 and 31 August 2016, for entry in September 2027. Registration is open now and closes at noon on Friday 6 November 2026.
- Occasional places (Years 8, 9 and 10). The school says it is typically full to capacity in all year groups, and places become available only very occasionally. For September 2027, you register interest using an online form by Monday 4 January 2027, and the school contacts families in January about next steps.
You register online and pay a registration fee of £210. The fee is non-returnable, except that you can cancel within 15 days of registering online for a refund. The school says it may waive the fee in cases of particular need; contact the Registrar before you register if this applies to you. Siblings of current or former pupils have no automatic right of entry.
Registration is the first of two steps. The school then sends you an Examination Entry Form, and that form has the same deadline as registration: noon on Friday 6 November 2026. The form is where you ask for access arrangements, a bursary or details of the Music Scholarship, so don't leave registration until the last week.
The assessment: what your daughter will sit
Godolphin and Latymer is a member of the London 11+ Consortium, and your daughter sits the Consortium's entrance test. The school's admissions policy says details of the test and familiarisation materials are on the Consortium's website. The school's own pages do not describe the format, sections or timings, so we don't either.
The school gives two test dates: Friday 27 November or Tuesday 1 December 2026. Its policy says girls should sit the test at their own primary school wherever possible; if that isn't offered, she will be invited to a Consortium school she has applied to.
If your daughter needs extra time or other arrangements, fill in the relevant sections of the Examination Entry Form and send written evidence. The school says this is usually a letter from a doctor, or an Educational Psychologist's report, together with a letter from her current school confirming her normal way of working.
Families living overseas can usually arrange, by prior agreement, for the test to be taken at the child's current school or through the British Council, under exam conditions and on an exam-ready laptop or similar device. It cannot be taken at home, and parents pay any extra costs.
What this means in practice
- The format is set by the Consortium. The school leaves the details of the test to the Consortium, so check the Consortium's materials to see what it looks like.
- The paperwork comes first. Two documents share the 6 November deadline, and the bursary form follows a week later.
Interview and the decision
The school's admissions process has three parts: the entrance test, an interview for girls who are selected, and a reference. Girls who do well in the test are invited to interview on Friday 15 January 2027. The school says it cannot offer an alternative date, so keep that day free.
The school says the interview is there to explore your daughter's abilities, her attitude to learning and her interests. It does not publish how long the interview lasts or what format it takes.
The Head of her current school is asked for a written reference covering her academic ability, attitude and behaviour, involvement in school life, talents and interests, and any special educational needs. Any offer depends on a satisfactory reference.
The school says selection is based mainly on academic merit, but also on whether a girl will benefit from a broad education and contribute to school life. Offers are sent on Friday 12 February 2027, and you must accept by noon on Wednesday 3 March 2027.
The school's fees page lists tuition fees of £11,698 for the autumn term 2026 and £12,341 each for the spring and summer terms 2027, including VAT. On accepting a place you pay a deposit of £3,300, including VAT, which is credited to your daughter's fee account when she leaves the school.
Help with fees: bursaries and scholarships
The school offers means-tested bursaries for girls joining Year 7. Awards range from 10% of fees up to a full bursary. The school's bursary policy calls a full award 110%, and says it may also include a £500 grant for initial costs such as uniform, free tuition on one instrument or in singing, school lunches and one residential trip a year. The school says around ten girls in each year receive help with fees, most of them on fully funded places.
To apply, tick the bursary box on the Examination Entry Form. The school sends a link to its online bursary portal within seven days of receiving your form. It says gathering the documents takes about two weeks. The deadline is noon on Friday 13 November 2026, and late or incomplete applications are not considered.
A few other points from the school's pages:
- Bursary applicants are assessed in exactly the same way as everyone else in the entrance test.
- The size of an award depends on need, not on how well your daughter does.
- Both parent and child must hold a British passport, Indefinite Leave to Remain or EU Settled Status at the time of application.
- You may be asked to meet the Bursar about your application in January.
- You hear about the bursary at the same time as the offer. An award normally continues through her time at the school, but you re-apply each year.
The school does not offer academic scholarships. At 11+ it offers Music Scholarships worth up to 30% of fees, with free lessons on one or two instruments; Music Exhibitions of lower value may also be awarded. A bursary can sometimes top up a scholarship. The application deadline is noon on Friday 6 November 2026. Only girls invited to interview can audition, and auditions are on Monday 25 and Tuesday 26 January 2027, with no alternative dates. As a guide, the school expects about Grade 6 on at least one instrument, but says graded exams are not required.
How to prepare
- Register well before 6 November. The Examination Entry Form arrives after registration but shares its deadline. If you need a bursary, you then need about two weeks to gather documents before 13 November.
- Use the Consortium's own familiarisation materials. The school's admissions policy says these are on the Consortium's website. Use them to see the format of the test.
- Sort access arrangements early. If she needs extra time, ask now for the doctor's letter or Educational Psychologist's report, and a letter from her school.
- Check where she will sit the test. Ask her primary school whether it runs the Consortium test, and which of the two dates applies.
- Let her talk about her interests. The interview explores attitude to learning and interests. Talking with her about books, ideas and activities she enjoys can help her feel at ease discussing them.
- Keep the January dates free. Interviews are on 15 January and music auditions on 25 and 26 January 2027, with no alternatives.
- For music, plan the programme. Auditions allow up to eight minutes of music, plus sight-reading, aural tests and a short informal chat.
