Accessibility statement

Our aim

We want everyone to be able to use akiru.co.uk. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.

What we've done

• Body text uses Atkinson Hyperlegible, a typeface designed for readers with low vision, at 17px.
• Text colours meet a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1, in light and dark mode.
• Every page works with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline and a "Skip to content" link.
• Buttons and links are at least 44 pixels tall, and pages work at phone width without scrolling sideways.
• Colour never carries meaning on its own: entry-point badges always say "10+", "11+" or "13+", and closed dates say "(closed)".
• Form errors are written in words, linked to their field, and the first error receives focus.
• Motion is kept to a minimum and turned off if you ask your device to reduce motion.

How we checked

On 19 October 2026 we tested every page at phone and desktop widths, with a keyboard only, and with the axe automated checker against WCAG 2.2 AA. We fixed the issues it found, and we'll repeat these checks before launch.

Known issues

• Some steps, such as booking confirmation and checkout, run on pages provided by Wix. We can't fully control their accessibility; if you have trouble with them, contact us and we'll book or sell to you another way.
• Printable prep packs are PDF files designed for printing. They may not work well with screen readers. If you need a pack in another format, contact us.
